Gospel Partners in Jordan
BIG GIVE 2025 Mission Offering Supporting
Mission Partners in Jordan
The country of Jordan is best described as a place of refuge amongst significant unrest in the surrounding countries of the Middle East. Home to around 11 million people, only about 3.5 million are actually Jordanian. The rest of the population is made up primarily of refugees from surrounding nations. Economically, it is a poor country and one of the least water-resourced countries in all the world. The capitol, Amman, has a population of around 5 million, roughly the same size as Houston, but is very dense with a land area similar to Katy ISD. You can hear the Muslim call to prayer no matter where you are. Jordan is a hard place to be reached…It typically takes 10-20 years of living, working among, and walking with the people before they really start to see progress. Workers and their families are often scrutinized by government officials and society at large, and run the risk of jail time or being kicked out of the country. For those who have chosen to walk in the Way in recent years, they often find themselves isolated from family and friends, lose educational and job opportunities, and are at high risk of persecution, violence, and possibly jail.
Our Gospel Partners, the P Family, have served here for nearly 5 years. They are primarily involved with local community centers, providing for physical, relational, and spiritual needs. This includes trauma support groups, weekly visits sharing the Message, youth programs, father’s programs, a preschool, tutoring, medical care, and supply of basic needs such as food, shelter, heating and cooling, etc. The primary goal is sharing the Message of Truth in everything they do.
The Elders at Waypoint spent time personally meeting with our mission partner months ago and were moved this summer to send a one-time gift to meet needs enabling the family in their return. Others in our church have also known the faithfulness of this leader in local efforts for years before a call to Jordan. The offering we provide helps meet tangible needs AND the spiritual needs that remind a missionary on the field they’re not alone. Let’s send a strong show of solidarity in the generosity of prayer and provision!

LOCAL COLLABORATIVE CHURCH PLANT
Did you know…?
Waypoint Church is a merger of two church plants. Both of our pastors took a leap of faith to plant a church and know the highs and lows of planting first-hand.
As a whole, new churches statistically see more baptisms.
Church plants are apt to take greater risks and fresh approaches to reach the lost.
Healthy disciples have a desire to make new disciples. Healthy churches have a desire to plant new churches.
The call to start a new church is not for the faint of heart. Those called to this task dream of how God might use the unique vision in their new work to reach those moving here by the thousands who are lost without Christ.
God wants Waypoint to cultivate a heart and passion to reproduce new flourishing congregations, and we know we can’t do this alone. In 2024, our pastors began to meet and pray with two local churches to dream about a collaborative church planting effort. This year, the potential for more resources and greater focus shows us we’re following God’s lead.
The Grove Church and Renaissance Church are two newer churches planted 11 years and 7 years ago in our area, and we want to see God multiply our efforts in the years ahead to birth a brand-new work TOGETHER. This work is committed to reach the growing neighborhoods in our backyard with the gospel through a sustaining, autonomous Christ-centered church in Fort Bend County.
Funds will support:
Seed money for a future collaborative church plant
Resources for a local collaborative residency to train potential planter(s)
Ongoing monthly support for the early needs of a collaborative church plant ahead
BIG GIVE 2025 FAQs
Why Big Give 2025?
This is a great question. Waypoint believes in working in gospel causes happening outside the walls of our church. Big Give is a unique way to partner with ministries like these to make an EXTRA difference beyond normal mission giving. How does Big Give 2025 work?
Big Give is a collective way to simply give and grow our heart for missions as a church. Most donors consider these gifts over and above what they already give to Waypoint, enabling faithful stewardship and true generosity. Gifts collected over this month will be equally dispersed to each of the three giving areas that are shared above. How do we determine where we give support as a church?
Waypoint Elders meet with various missionaries and gospel causes throughout the year. We search for a shared stirring as a group, a confident unity in our prayers, and a passion that reflects our mission as a church. Our pastors often bring a prayerful and thoughtful recommendation to the full team of Elders for consideration. After a period of time to listen to God and a measure of creative effort in how we should approach BigGive in December, a confident plan arises that we present to the church body to steward generous resources collected to distribute to the selected causes and people in the New Year.
Why led us to support a Jordan Partnership & Future Church Plant in 2025?
Waypoint believes giving to mission and ministry causes as a church is a stewardship of our Great Commission calling and Acts 1:8 Strategy to reach every part of our world. Our support of Kingdom efforts should impact our backyard and the ends of the earth. Some years we’ve focused on a specific region within local efforts. Other years we’ve sown specifically into international efforts. This year, like December 2024, we’ve determined our gifts can impact both!
Our support of gospel efforts in the country of Jordan reflects an existing relationship with gospel partners. Past local ministry work presented an open door for us to hear how God is moving in a new mission work sprouting into gospel life in hard soil. This family has already been blessed by your regular giving to Waypoint through a one-time gift this fall. This special investment is an expression of support for those toiling in hard to reach cultures, especially areas hostile to the gospel like where they serve.
Our ongoing efforts to support Church Planting should be near to our hearts. Our own story of Waypoint is born out of a merger of two church plants, so we believe this story of disciple-making and reproduction needs to be told again and again. One of the greatest ways we can love our neighbors as a church is to partner with God in seeing new reflections of His bride be born to reach generations of neighbors still to come. Our pastors began prayerful conversations around a collaborative church plant with other churches in 2024. This effort can be seeded now to ready our ability to join God in a local work to come that we can’t yet see. When does Big Give 2025 end?
Big Give 2025 runs from Sunday, November 30 - December 31.
